Bikes such as the '06 Yamahas with removable bar mounts, can now be upgraded with Universal Duplex model that are precision machined with 4-bolt design to evenly distribute the 60mm total clamping surface for your oversize 1 1/8" bars and help eliminate twisting. The kit ships with a Universal bar pad and 2 sets of studs to fit your OE or Universal top clamp. Combine these with a new Solex 2 Tone bar to really complete your upgrade.
We would like to welcome the newest member of the Universal sales team - Smitty.
Fabian Bauersachs has been busy doing the FMX thing all over Europe. The Germany Universal rider went up to Scndinavia with fellow UMX rider Busty Wolter do do some shows and enter some comps. Fun was had in between. Fab is also working on his own foam pit at FAB-Land so expect him to join the contest flippers in the near future. Check Fabian's website for more info and we'll report on his backflipping developments. www.bauairsucks.de
Once a year there's an event they call the Black Cross. Having fun and getting wasted is the main reason for people to go there. The creations that ride on the track are insane. There was a dude in MX gear riding an elephant on the track and if you look at the photo on the left you see what else you can expect at this race. Still the Dutch best MX-ers have a 2-moto race and UMX rider Jarno got 4th and 6th representing Universal well. (no that's not Jarno in the photo).
UMX rider Sebastian "Busty" Wolter pulled off another fun mini bike race in Cologne, Germany. With the Suzuki BMX Masters taking place in a stone throw distance, the bikers had an extra event going on in both directions. This year's track had a giant Camp Ramps table top made for mini bikes that some of them cleared, and some didn't. The racing was chaos at times but that's part of the fun. Leave that fun part up to Busty. He knows all about it.
Mike Alessi grabbed another podium in the MX2/125cc/Lites class in Lakewood, Co. After having some bike problems because of the high altitude, these problems were fixed on Sunday and Mike was posting the fastest lap times in practice in his class. Mike ended up finishing 3rd in heat one and 3rd in heat two for another podium.
Here's a little update from Erwin Robins who rode another round of the European championships this last weekend. "It all went pretty well with a 6 - 6 - 4 finish for 5th overall. In the last moto with three laps to go I was in 8th position when I almost got number 7 but he blocked me which made me so mad that I took the other 4 riders in 2 laps (not very nicely). If it doesn't go the easy way, it's got to be the rough way. I'm currently in third in the European Championships." Erwin.
Jarno Verhorevoort has been posting good results left and right. Recently he got a second overall at the National race in Halle. In Boekel he posted a 2nd in moto one but crashed in the second heat which kept him off the podium. He'll be back and in shape for the most fun and biggest Motocross event of Europe this Sunday in Lichtenvoorde: De Zwarte Cross.
It's always nice to hear your riders are winning. Erwin Robins has been doing just that. The heat wave has arrived in The Netherlands but that doesn't matter to Erwin who works in a fridge hacking meat during the week and wins motocross races in the blazing sun in the weekends. With 1 -1 wins in Hapert and Berghem we're proud to have him represent Universal MX Products. Erwin also got a three page interview in Noppencross, Holland's only and crappy MX magazine.
Mike Alessis started off well in Unadilla at the latest National. Leading from start to finish is a nice feeling and Mike felt right going into moto 2. He got hit at the start of the second moto which sent him back mid-pack early on. Alessi fought back to 7th place for third overall in the lights class. Mike lost the championships lead in Unadilla and is now trailing by 3 points.
On a super hot weekend in The Netherlands UMX rider Jarno Verhorevoort became the second Universal rider (after Erwin Robins) to score Grand Prix points. Jarno's first heat started okay but a small crash moved him back to 32nd. He continued the race and moved back into the 20 spot which was good for 1 GP point. Moto two was a little better where Jarno got out of the first turn mid-pack and moved up to 15th place (6 points). Congrats Jarno!
We're not sure if Universal MX inspired Pro BMX riders Heath Pinter to paint his bars in the two-tone scheme but he showed up at the Elevation BMX dirt comp in Whistler with these black and white handlebars. Get your two-tone bars from Universal today.
