The 2006 MX Nationals haven't started yet and Mike Sleeter is already on a 2007 KTM. The pre - production KTM tester is figuring out the new electric starter (push button to start) and if it's any indication on how fast the machine is, Factory KTM rider Jonathan Barragan scored a 2nd aboard the '07 450 SXF in the latest GP in Portugal. Japan watch out.
There's some good news from the MXJarno camp. The Universal rider has been selected to race the MX3 Grand Prix in Rhenen, The Netherlands on 25 May next. Being part of the Grand Prix racing circus is the ultimate goal for a motocross rider, even if it's just the less prestigious MX 3 (the old 500cc) class. Good luck to Jarno on the 25th.
Our new lock nut wrench fits most stock and all Universal aluminium lock nuts. Its thin design fits underneath short handlebar mounts for fast and easy neck bearing adjustment. Every factory mechanic neews one of those.
American Honda Motor Co., Inc donated a brand new CRF50 that was tricked out by Fast50s to help out Universal backed rider James Marshall who had an unfortunate crash at the SD SX earlier this year. The Road 2 Recovery Foundation set up an e-Bay sale for the ride.Bid today on this great bikewhile helping out James Marshall!
With top 20 scoring points at the Motocross Grand Prix series, Johan Carlsson's 23 -21 score doesn't sound satisfying. However, it was good to see that Johan qualified for the main program in the MX2 class and was so close to scoring GP points. The Swedish YZ rider will compete at the next GP in Germany on the first weekend of May.
It's no secret that Erwin Robins likes to ride sand tracks. At the MON MX race in Meijel he got what he likes. The deep sand track suited the Universal rider well and he showed that as he won both moto's in the Superclass. Erwin is showing that you can actually win when you use Universal product. Are you next?
Jarno verhorevoort is leaving his bad luck behind him. The 4 -4 finish in Oss, The Netherlands is a sign that the UMX rider is on his way up. Jarno's run into a pile of tires in heat one cost him his second place position he was in at that moment. MxJarno came back to post a fourth.
Last Saturday was the AMA/live nation supercross held at the Dallas cowboys Texas stadium,in Dallas, Texas. Mike Alessi, who rode on antibiotics tonight after catching pneumonia early last week, pulled it all together and salvaged a 4th place finish. He is now only 6 points out of 3rd overall in the series with one race left in Seattle next weekend. Good luck Mike.
The change to the MON federation has been a good one for Erwin Robins. His confidence is building up weekend after weekend. In Well the Universal rider scored another victory with a win in both motos. He has now won MX1 and MX3 classes and picked up a 250 YZF at Yamaha to challenge the MX2 class if the opportunity arises. From the speed he was riding at in Lierop yesterday, the competition should fear. To be continued......
Michael Sleeter rode the Transworld Ride Day at Cahuilla Creek MX and is looking forward to finishing up the final two rounds of the Supercross season before he heads north to race a KTM in the western half of the Canadian series. He'll finish out his summer by racing the U.S. series from Colorado through to the end.
Mike Alessi had a few weeks off but he'll be busy contending the Amp'd Mobile Supercross series for the next three weeks. # 800 is preparing for the Dallas round this weekend followed by the race in Seattle and the East vs. West shootout in Las Vegas. With Andrew Short and Grant Langston fighting for the West Coast MX2 SX title, we'd like to see Mike and Nathan Ramsey get in the mix up front. Good luck the KTM factory riders and check out their Universal Monocoque stands in the pits.
Erwin Robins is back to scoring 1 - 1 results and won the MX 1 class at Den Hout, NL on April 9th recently. It wasn't an easy one as Erwin had to come back from 16th in heat one. Sweebe was giving him some competition in both motos but also the second heat saw Robins climb on top of the podium. Things are going well for the Universal MX rider over at the MON.

The Alessi's have been part of the Universal Motocross family for a long time. Actually from the start. They were using our bars when they were supported by Honda in their mini days and in the end even got their own bar bend at Universal MX. These days both Jeff and Mike ride for factory KTM and although their contract says they have to ride a different brand of bars, they still park their factory rides on the perfect Orange factory Monocoque stand. Over the last few weeks Jeff was recovering from an injury and last weekend saw his return at a fun local race finishing second behind his brother Mike, who once again doubled at a race in between the big ones (Amp'd SX series). Good luck to both of them in the upcoming weeks.
The MX Grand Prix season kicked off this weekend in Zolder, Belgium. Swedish UMX supported rider Johan Carlsson had some bad luck in qualifying for the event. In a certain qualifying position for the main race on Sunday, Johan managed to crash on the demanding track and miss the spot. He'll get another chance in the upcoming GP's in Spain and Portugal. Better luck there Johan!
