Imagine walking to your garage, you open the door and your bike is missing. It happened to Universal friend Bern Buster. His 2006 CRF 450 was gone and while the scumbags were at it, they took his Scott mountain bike too. The anger that builds up at a moment like this is huge and we hope Bern will be back on a bike soon.
The evolution continues with our Radius top clamps. Select new models now feature recessed machining to reduce weight. Our top clamps now come with aircraft-grade stainless-steel bolts that are pre-drilled for safety wire. Colour: Black anodized. Precision CNC-machined finish. Super strong forged Kinesium alloy billet construction. Top clamps include adjustable handlebar mounts.
I believe we'll have to fire Erwin Robins soon. He didn't win both motos last weekend in Schaijk. His second and a first wasn't even good enough for the day victory. We can't have that. Erwin, you gotta step it up bro! 7 wins out of 8 motos doesn't cut it. Of course we're kidding. We haven't had so many victories since the Alessi brothers jumped on the Orange boat. Keep it up!
The highly competitive Open Dutch Outdoor season had its second race over the weekend. Another sandy track as you can tell by the photo of UMX's Jarno Verhorevoort. A crash in the first moto held him back a little but after the weekend Jarno moved up to 12th place in the MX1 standings.
New for 2006: our heat treated aluminium lock nut is CNC machined to reduce weight and drilled for easy safety installation. Black anodized and laser etched finish for full works style.
Universal FMX rider Sebastian "Busty" Wolter is part of the European Freestyle Motocross crew that battles with team USA on the Hardcore FMX tour, put on by Live Nation. The tour started in Belgium over the weekend and will move on to Finland and Switzerland in May. At the very first show Busty made the finals in the whip contest and was only beat by Dustin Miller of team USA. The show will be on Eurosport TV so look out for Airwastl's goon ride on his UMX equipped RM 250.
A Samson bed rack and two pair of Solution tie-downs is the ultimate set-up for bike hauling. Each strap features a locking carabiner hook on one end and a loop-and-hook handlebar strap on the other. Our spring-loaded cam lock is weather-resistant and very secure. Everyone needs these.
Erwin Robins has been on a winning streak. You wouldn't tell he was out with a broken bone earlier this season. Erwin is focusing on the MX2 MON title this year but when the occasion arises, he doesn't mind stepping up to the MX3 class. It's the Yamaha support that makes this possible. Last weekend he won both motos of the first round of the Dutch MX3 championships. Let's see what he ends up with at the end of the season.
At Universal, the evolution of our high-performance parts and accessories is relentless. Consider our Solex handlebars. New bends, more colours, better materials. Switch to Universal and you'll see what we mean. Available in Black, Silver and Two-tone (shown).
Johan Carlsson is the latest member of the Universal MX squad. The Swede finished 2nd in the Swedish MX2 class in 2005 and will be challenging the title this year. More importantly, Johan will ride the entire 2006 Grand Prix series and some Dutch races as well. Johan is currently living in "MX Mecca" Belgium to get ready for the first GP in Zolder (2 April next). Thanks to Carla Pro Shop for the support. Good luck to Johan.
Universal FMX riders Busty Wolter and Fabian Bauersachs participated in the Night of the Jumps in Nurnberg, Germany. Local Fabian scored a rad photo in the Coburg Tageblatt (newspaper)and got some more press with an interview on the Forty8 website.
Universal MX rider Erwin Robins is on a roll this season. After convincingly winning both motos in Emmen last weekend, he repeated the scenario in the MX1 class in Mill, The Netherlands. Erwin twisted his ankle in the first moto but dealt with the pain and finished 1st in front of Universal MX-Holland supported Christian Mandigers in both motos. That makes it one and two for Universal, something that doesn't happen very often.
The IFMXF held their first FIM World Championship round in Innsbruck, Austria and Universal rider Fabian Bauersachs qualified to take part of this round. The FIM had a bit too much MX in mind as the run-ups and turns felt like a motocross track which made it hard to concentrate on the actual jump you wanted to do. FAB didn't make the finals and is working on his MX skills in the snow right now over in Germany. Where's spring?
The Dutchies are tough ones. Today the MON and the KNMV held their first championship outdoor national in the freezing cold added with some snow. Universal rider Erwin Robins lead every lap in the MX1 Inters class in Emmen winning moto one by almost a minute on #2. Congrats to Erwin. At the KNMV championships in Gemert, Jarno Verhorevoort scored a 19th and a 21st in his first MX1 race of the year. Just keeping y'all posted.

East Coast Universal MX Sales rep Joe Jones burnt his hand when he opened the window of the space shuttle too soon when he landed at Cape Canavral. He wanted to wave at all the girls that were waiting but instead he set his hand on fire.
