Loretta's 2005

Congratulations to Les Smith of South Carolina for claiming the Amateur National Championship for the 14-15 85cc modified class at Loretta Lynn’s. As Mike D. could tell you, it was extremely hot and humid all week long. That did not phase Universal’s youngest bad-ass as he piloted his Hager Cycles Honda to 3-2-4 moto scores for the overall. Les beat out other top amateurs Nico Izzi, Kyle Cunningham, and Drew Gosselaar for the win.

'Lectric Avenue

So, the guys here thought I had lost my mind when I told them we were interviewing a dude who developed an electric mini bike for our Product Manager position. Until that is, they actually saw and rode the thing and met the dude. Erik is his name, I can't pronounce his last name, and the bike is just one of his many "projects". The thing has buckets of torque and is stealthy quiet. No more complaining neighbors when you decide to do a midnight moto! The bike isn't all the way done, but it is in testing stages and is ridiculous-fun to ride. (Looks pretty good on that stand, too, huh?) Well, Erik got the job and we hope he'll leave one of these babies here for running to the liquor store, I think his first project may be a 12-pack rack for the little beast.

So, our buddy Andy Jenkins sent over this link SXDOTCOM and told me "This is real racing..." Even after nearly 20 years, I have to agree. Good footy. Thanks AJ.
