Last weekend was my first road trip since joining the crew at Universal. West Coast UMX sales manager Mike D and I headed for Colorado to visit dealers in the surrounding area, and attend the AMA outdoor national in Lakewood, CO. After arriving in Denver we rented a purple PT Cruiser to catch up with Lyle and Ronnie Fun Center in Durango. Thanks to everyone at the Fun Center for showing us a heck of a good time.
My one-word review for the rest of the weekend goes something line this: hot, karaoke, Dano and Ryan from Cycle News, hot, rednecks, and hot chicks at the Lone Star Bar and Grill.
Race day is yet another story I’ll be better off not getting into. Suffice it to say, the Colorado outdoor national was nothing like Glen Helen or Washougal. First you had to be shuttled to the track by bus, and then you had to walk up Mt. Everest just to get a good view of the track! If you’re planning to go to Lakewood national next year, here’s some advice: do 30-minute intervals on the StairMaster at your local gym until you can walk for 6 hours straight without having your heart explode in your chest!
