Factory Duffy

Gregg Duffy, Jr. will be competing in the 2007 Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championships. Thanks to the guys at Empire Graphics he will be going in their with the full factory kit. As long as Gregg can fit his swelled up head inside the helmet before the race, he should finish top 5 in the ultra competitive A-Class. Good Luck Gregg and have a beer for us Gregg, Sr!

Paul’s Universal XL100 Project

Here an update again, not a lot happened but some changes were made:

- Sportster gastank with high flow petcock, "Half" Frisco, mounted on top of the
backbonewith a piece of Universal Solex handlebars.
- Seat, still waiting for the Biltwell seat so I cut the original seat and made it a
bit shorter and more comfortable than the diamond Alu plate that killed my back for some weeks.
- New front inner tube, cause I managed to make a hole in it while putting it on the rim.

Things to do:

- Exhaust, seat, seatmounts, jiffy, paint (or no paint), forward controlls etc etc.

We will keep you informed about the project, tips & tricks are welcome but not needed with
wrench guys like Philip & New kid on the block Boyd.....

Loza in for X-Games

Kyle Loza will be making his debut in the X-games in Carson, CA with his new trick, the Loza Volt. The trick is very similar to the X-Games winning Carolla that Chuck Carothers pulled a few years back. If Kyle can pull this one, he is almost guaranteed a medal. Check out www.EXPN.com to get a preview of the trick.

Cheers,

Bilko down

Blake “Bilko” Williams took a digger at the Dew Tour this past weekend after busting out his new Ruler Backflip trick. He did however put in a good enough run to finish second behind FMX great Nate Adams. Many agree that Bilko would have won without the mishap. We all wish him a speedy recovery and that everything goes well. Check out this video clip of his new trick.

Englewood

That’s right, long time Universal Amateur rider Kyle Engle laid the wood down at Mammoth. Kyle put on a show as he set a blistering pace for fellow fast 85 riders Eli Tomac and James Justice to follow. Lucky for the other two amateurs that Kyle’s bike took a dive on him in moto 2 or he would have had to put the spankin’ on them for a second time. Good work Ding Ding!

Beaverton FMX party

One of our best dealers in the North West, Beaverton Honda in the Portland area, is having an open house / FMX demo at their shop. Go there and enjoy watching some of Universal’s best FMX athletes pull out there best flip tricks and Super Indian Airs as you sip on complimentary Rockstar energy drinks. The Metal Mulisha’s very own Justin Homan will be their signing autographs after the show. Make sure to buy Ty Reid a cocktail at the after party located at Outlaws Bar & Grill for all his efforts in helping to put on this shindig.

GROUNDED

As many of you know, the Universal gang shares their office with SNAFU BMX. A few weeks ago, the guys from SNAFU invited us out to watch the premiere of Etnies’s new BMX video “Grounded.” The whole crew was hoopin’ it up while they got served up free drinks by Etnies staffers and watched SNAFU team riders such as Morgan Wade throw some super dope turn bar pocket airs over some wild SH%T. Here is a photo of Mike D. trying to swoop in on Mike C. from SNAFU’s lady at the party. Ever since that night the two have been butting heads over the incident. No pun intended… Smitty and Ham Bone.

In moto related news, young Universal star Kyle Engle has been killing it all over the west coast and received the cover of Final Lap and a couple of half page shots in Dirt Rider. Big ups Ding Ding from your boys Mike D. and Smitty.

Viva Las Vegas

This week the whole gang will be heading to Las Vegas to watch the Mini Moto SX, Vegas SX, and catch up with some of our different customers and athletes that will be out at the event. The Universal Pit Bike Team is pretty strong and we are looking to take home a bunch of titles. Top riders include Derek Costella, Jason Ellis, Jena Ellis, Kyle Engle, Drew Petrie, and Matt Buyten. At the Vegas SX we will be represented as always by Red Bull KTM. A few of us will also be enjoying some of the poolside festivities as well and promise to keep it classy.

MXJarno close to podium in Heerde

UMX Suzuki rider Jarno Verhorevoort had a decent race in Heerde this past weekend. Jarno qualified in 4th in time practice and felt good on his Pol Suzuki. In the first moto Jarno left the first turn in third. He moved up to second but in the second half of the race he dropped back to 4th. Then he charged hard to grab 3rd place at the end of the race. In heat two Jarno had a crash with another rider on the first lap. He dropped back from 7th to 15th. Once on the bike Jarno passed enough riders to finish 7th. The 3-7 heat scores gave Jarno a 4th place total for the day.

Next race: Round three of the Open Belgian Outdoor Championships
